Mark Yachnin I was just revisiting this excellent album for the first time in a while. I find I enjoy it more on each listening. It's has great grooves, sometimes subtle, sometime overt, but never simplistic. Gorgeous sounds and performances by all the musicians, especially the violinist. Finally the album is so beautifully recorded and produced. Enjoy!

about

The core concept of Ondoon is "Put Your Big Ears On", listen, and then play... maybe.

These songs are literally Spontaneous Human Composition.

Each player spontaneously added something (or not), and then passed it to the others. Not everyone is on every song. And that was part of the beauty; this is an ego free, "for the good of the whole", project. It was odd to have people say, "I'm not playing on that, it's great as it is".

Most of these songs evolved rather quickly; some matured a little slower, and others instantly exploded as finished tracks. The process and journey were amazing. (Each song is credited in the order of contribution.)

The goal was to keep the organic mood/vibe of each piece. They aren't perfect; they are human. We pretty much broke all of the rules of recording; absolutely no plans, switching studios, record the drums last. etc. And we certainly bent the rules of mixing and mastering. However, we are really happy with the results. Each of us poured our talents, hearts, and souls into these compositions. We truly hope you enjoy the results of us having so much fun.
